We had a client come to us recently with such a lovely idea, we thought it would be a shame not to share it. When it comes to finding something different and fitting to gift your better half on your wedding anniversary, the risk is to slip into the safe options. Its easy for the obvious ones, Paper, China, Gold but when it comes to the in between ones it can all feel a little repetitive. So we thought for any of the fabric based anniversaries (see below for our suggestions), you could give a beautifully embroidered piece:
12th Silk/ Linen
Some applications of this that we find work particularly well are his and hers pillowcases, table wear, and also, the classic shirt monogram, however if you have an idea or item of your own that you would like to find out if we can personalise it for you, then let us know and we will see what we can do.
It’s a wonderful thing when a new baby comes along, but it can be hard to know what to get the new family when they have just received the most precious gift of all.
Hawthorne & Heaney can offer a personalisation service to add the chosen name of the bundle of joy to make your gift a little more special. With prices starting from £5.60 a letter it can be an inexpensive too if it seems that all your friends have the baby fever.
From blankets to booties, hats or pillowcases, just contact us with the item you would like to personalise and we can help you.
The Hawthorne & Heaney ladies have been out in force again, this time for Debenhams in the run up to Christmas. They have been bringing our special brand of personalisation to the items available as part of the ‘found it’ promotion.
Cute little embroidery from one of our ladies, stitching the found it label. It seems that personalisation has been everywhere this year and long may it continue! So for now we at the Hawthorne & Heaney team wish you Happy Christmas and we look forward to the New Year!

Many of you may think its way too early to be thinking about Christmas, but in terms of bespoke gifts, it’s not far away. Our good friends over at Cleverley’s have been busy making slippers that are destined to be Christmas gifts for quite some time now, as have we for those slippers that are adorned with embroidery.
Our director, Claire Barrett has had a pair made for herself with our Hawthorne & Heaney logo across the front, embroidered in silks and bullions. I have it on good authority that they are incredibly comfortable and hard wearing as well as being very a highly covetable item. They can be made with your choice of emblem on the front, if you have something specific in mind which we can have made into embroidery as we also offer a drafting service.
Best get your order in if you would like to present your loved one with a pair of these! Pricing on request.
The Hawthorne & Heaney team have been busy making themselves known again this weekend by getting out and about with the public. This event was with Farah Vintage, a very well established mens wear brand, in their Covent Garden Store. Farah Vintage was established back in 1910 in Texas making blue chambray shirts for 35cents! The Utilitarian functionality of their items made them popular with the 1970’s Mod culture, an aesthetic that can still be felt today in their collection. This connection with music has been consistent as they have been sported by bands such as Pulled Apart by Horses, Bombay Bicycle Club, Editors and many more.
In honour of Fathers Day, our team was furiously embroidering personalised initials onto shirts for those who wanted to add the personal touch to their gift. The Farah customers were willing to be quite individual about their monogramming, choosing interesting placements for their initials along side the traditional cuff position. Our embroiderer used the traditional transfer technique to apply the design, then works into the shirt on the frame free hand. You can see the stages of the process below:
